WHITEHALL – Dowagiac’s Tristan Howard will compete in the Michigan High Athletic Association Individual Finals Feb. 28 through March 2 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Howard, a junior, finished third at the individual regional held in Whitehall Saturday.

Howard pinned Russ Hulick of Grand Rapids Catholic Central in 4:50 in the 285-pounds consolation finals.

Defending Division 3 215 pound state champion Gage Hutchison remained undefeated as he pinned Taylor Gohn of Allendale in 1:47 in the title match. Hutchison has now won 110 consecutive matches. He is 52-0 on the season.

Also qualifying for the Bucks were Jeff Mucha, who suffered his first loss of the season, but rebounded to finish third, Colin Wheetley at 130 and Jermaine Cox at 160. Both Wheetley and Cox finished fourth.
