DECATUR — An undermanned Brandywine wrestling team was no match for No. 7-ranked Bronson in the semifinals of the Division 4 Team Regional at Decatur Wednesday night.

The Vikings recorded nine pins and picked up a forfeit against the Bobcats en route to an easy 69-9 victory.

Bronson advanced to the regional title match to take on No. 6-ranked Constantine, a 40-25 winner over Lawton in the other semifinal.

The Vikings recorded two pins and a major decision before Brandywine’s Chanc Ravish stopped the bleeding with a pin of Joe Abarran in 3:11 at 145 pounds.

The Bobcats would not win again until 189 pounds, where Joe Monica decisioned Jordan Jimenez 7-2.

By that time, it was 40-6, and the outcome of the match had been decided.

Bronson would go on to win the final five bouts, three by pin, one by technical fall and one by forfeit.

“I believe that, if we would have wrestled our best, it would have been a close match,” Brandywine coach Rex Pomranka said. “We had some guys out of the line-up. We saw them earlier in the year, and they beat us pretty good. We thought we had made some improvements, but with a couple of guys being injured and sick, it really hurt us.
