Ravish defends Division 4 district title

CONSTANTINE — Brandywine’s Chanc Ravish successfully defended his district championship at Constantine High School Saturday.

Ravish claimed the 140-pound championship by pinning Constantine’s Andres Montoya in 4:44 to improve to 43-2 on the year.

He reached the finals by winning by injury default over Ovie Sanchez of Eau Claire in the quarterfinals and then scoring an 8-1 decision against Bronson’s Joe Albarran in the semifinals.

Brandywine’s Paul Lochmondy was also a district champion as he edged Schoolcraft’s Chris Caporossi 13-10 in the 135-pound title bout. Lochmondy is now 34-6 on the season.

Also qualifying for Saturday’s Division 4 regional at Bangor for Brandywine were Jesse Lochmondy (third place) at 103, Jeff Cornell (fourth) at 125 and Joe Monica (third) at 189.

Cassopolis qualified three wrestlers for the regionals — Khalil Brown (fourth) at 119, Zack Newton (fourth) at 160 and Tymari Brown (fourth) at 189.
