Julia Elizabeth Miner, 93, of Woodland Terrace at Longmeadow, died on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Woodland Terrace at Longmeadow following an extended illness.  She was born March 13, 1919, in Chicago to Spencer Clark and Daisy Dean Iddings.

Julia moved to Niles in 1932 with her family and graduated from Niles High School.  She attained her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Illinois in 1949.  Julia was a very talented painter and enjoyed traveling; especially with her sister for family visits.

Survivors include nephews, Richard Miner, of Rosamond, Calif., Phillip Miner, of Layton, Utah, and one niece, Judy Liebers, of Limestone, Tenn.

Julia was preceded in death by her sister, Janet C. Miner, and four brothers, Samuel S. Miner, Edward B. Miner, Richard H. Miner and Robert W. Miner.

Funeral services for Julia Elizabeth Miner will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles with Chaplain Barb Van Eck of Reverence Home Health and Hospice officiating.  Burial will take place on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta, Ill., at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
