Mary Alice Tavernier, 62, of Dowagiac, passed to her rest on Jan. 26, 2013, in the emergency room of Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital from a possible heart attack.

Mary was born April 27, 1951, in Halls, Tenn., the daughter of James and Alice Fitzhugh and moved from Niles to Dowagiac.

Mary was married Oct. 10, 1981, in Elkhart, Ind., to Cary A. Tavernier.

Her husband passed on June 24, 2006.

Surviving are: two daughters, Stacey L. Reed of South Bend, Ind., and Shanda Michelle “Mickey” Reed of Niles.

There is a grandson, Andrue Jacob Gary of South Bend, and three brothers, John and Larry Fitzhugh of Michigan City, Ind., and Bobby Fitzhugh.

There are no services or memorials planned.
