Marvin E. Hedstrom, 89, of Niles, died at 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at home following an extended illness.

He was born on November 7, 1923 in Michigan City, Indiana to Claus A. and Anna (Erickson) Hedstrom, He moved to Niles in 1928, coming from Michigan City. In 1982, after 38 years, Marvin retired from the National Standard Company.
John was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles.
On April 24, 1953, in Niles, he married the former Georgia Helen Wiars with whom he celebrated the 49th anniversary of their wedding prior to her death on Oct. 31, 2002.
Services for Marvin E. Hedstrom will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with The Rev. Carl Bassett of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Contributions in memory of Marvin may be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
