Dowagiac rally falls short

The Dowagiac girls basketball team got off to a slow start, but rallied in the second half to make things interesting with Berrien Springs Thursday night.

The winless Chieftains trailed 20-9 at halftime, but outscored the Shamrocks 26-13 in the final 16 minutes, but came away on the short end of a 43-35 Wolverine Conference West Division decision in girls basketball action.

Berrien Springs won the game in the second quarter when it turned a mere 8-6 lead into an 11-point halftime lead by outscoring the Chieftains 12-3.

Tyann Pierce and Gabby Dortch both scored nine points for the Shamrocks.

Dowagiac got 10 points from Rayven Brown and eight points from Crieona Rodgers.
