Teenager shot Monday in Niles

A teenage boy was shot in the stomach Monday evening, but is expected to make a full recovery, according to the Niles Police Department.

Police found Jonathan Cook, 19, of Detroit, with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen at a residence in the 200 block of North Sixth St. in Niles at around 7:23 p.m.

Cook was treated at the scene and transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., where he is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Police say the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Niles Police Department Detective Bureau at (269) 683-0404 or submit an anonymous tip using www.tipsoft.com.

No arrests have been made at this time.
