Janet M. Veach, 89

Janet M. Veach, 89, of Dowagiac, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at The Timbers of Cass County.

Janet’s life began on Aug. 4, 1923, in Dowagiac, daughter of Theodore and Edith Vinton (Benner).

She was a 1943 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School.

Janet was united in marriage to Merle Thomas Veach on June 12, 1943, at First Methodist Church in South Bend, Ind.

She worked for James Heddon’s Sons and as a waitress.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Dowagiac Moose.  Janet was also a member of the Dowagiac First United Methodist Church.

Her beautiful smile and friendly spirit will be remembered by many.

Her loving family includes: her children, Thomas (Theresa) Veach of Sebring, Fla., Jackie (Ron) Antiss of Berrien Center and daughter-in-law Theresa Veach of Niles; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her brother, James Hilliard of Dowagiac.

She is preceded in death by: her husband; a son, Gary, in 1990; and two brothers, Richard and John Hilliard.

She will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles, at a later date.
