A late Brandywine rally came up a bit short against White Pigeon in boys basketball action Tuesday night.

The Bobcats (2-6) rallied from a 14-point deficit in the final quarter, but fell to the Chiefs 53-47.

Trailing 47-33 heading into the fourth quarter, Brandywine’s pressure defense finally started paying some dividends. White Pigeon tried to hold the basketball and eat some clock, but the move backfired.

Pierce Gleason, who finished with a game-high 15 points, got the rally started with 2:30 left in the contest when he came up with a steal and scored to make it 50-42.

After forcing a 10 second call on the Chiefs, Brandywine’s Zach Schmidt score off an offensive rebound to keep it an eight point game before Gleason’s third 3-pointer cut the lead to 52-47 with 1:18 showing on the clock.

That would be as close as the Bobcats would get.

Besides Gleason’s 15 points, Brandywine also got 10 points off the bench from Andrew Duckett.

Branson Salyer had 13 points for White Pigeon, which also got 12 points from Robbie Gibson and 10 points from Matt Crowl.
