MUSKEGON — To say the undefeated and ninth-ranked Niles wrestling team dominated the Muskegon Orchard View Invitational Saturday would be an understatement.

The Vikings had six individual champions and placed 18 wrestlers overall in winning the team championship by a 101-point advantage.

Niles finished with 255 points, while runner-up Lansing Waverly finished with 154 points and Fruitport was third with 153.5.

Winning championship for the Vikings were Nicholas Zimmerman (119), Darek Bullock-Mills (125), Casey Burandt (145), Fritzel Findeisen (152), Daniel Sierra (160) and Ryan Casey 189).

For Sierra, it was his first career tournament championship.

“Overall, I thought it was a great tournament to wrestle at coming off Christmas break,” Niles coach Todd Hesson said. “It’s a great way to build momentum going into the second half of the season.”

Niles’ domination was so complete that the Vikings took first and second place in a pair of weight classes — 119 with Josh Dayhuff and 125 with Justin Jones.

Also finishing second were Brandon Meek (112),  Sean Craig (171), Travis Edwards (215) and Derek Scott (285).

Niles will put its undefeated (16-0) mark on the line Wednesday night when it travels to Battle Creek to face No. 9-ranked (Division 1) Lakeview.
