Kennedy’s Kitchen makes its eighth appearance at the Box Factory for the Arts on Jan. 12 with a new CD, “The Birds Upon the Trees.” The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. with John Kennedy and his Kitchen band. General admission is $10; $8 for students and seniors; children 12 and younger admitted free.

Kennedy’s Kitchen has been making Irish music together since 1998, averaging about 80 shows per year playing everything from backyard parties and weddings to pubs, concert halls and national festivals.

From their home in South Bend, band members have traveled as far as New York City and Naples, Fla., recording four CDs along the way. Their fifth CD will be available at the Box Factory concert.

The band of family and friends gather every Thursday evening for dinner, laughter and music rooted in traditional Irish music, jigs, reels, hornpipes, aires, recitations, stories and more. It’s a mix of all things Irish from traditional to pub songs, from toe-tapping to deeply moving.

Led by John Kennedy, band members include John’s nephews, Liam and Nolan Ladewski; Chris O’Brien, Rob Weber and Jacob Turner. Instruments include fiddle, flutes, whistles, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar, tenor banjo, harmonica, bohdran and bass.
