The Edwardsburg boys basketball team improved to 5-1 with a 50-26 win over visiting Berrien Springs last Thursday night.

The Eddies’ girls team was not as fortunate as the Shamrocks escaped with a 39-31 victory.

Jackson Gaideski scored a game-high 14 points to lead Edwardsburg, which also got 12 points from Josh Kozinski.

Edwardsburg built up a 33-11 halftime cushion and then cruised home with the victory.

In the girls game, both teams battled back and forth to gain control of the contest.

Both teams scored six points in the opening quarter, but the Shamrocks put together back-to-back eight-point quarters to take a 22-18 lead into the final eight minutes as the Eddies managed just six points in each of the first three periods.

Berrien Springs outscored Edwardsburg 17-13 to pull out the victory.

Makenzie Moody had 13 points to lead the Shamrocks and all scorers.

Maddi Holmes had 11 points for the Eddies.
