DECATUR – The Brandywine Bobcats took the first step toward winning the Lakeland Conference wrestling championship Wednesday.

The Bobcats defeated Buchanan 36-33 in an early showdown of the league’s top two squads.

Brandywine won four straight matches from 103- to 125-pounds. Buchanan won four consecutive bouts from 145- to 171-pounds.

Jeff Mucha of Buchanan edged Chanc Ravish 3-2 in the featured bout of the match.

The Bobcats had no trouble defeating White Pigeon, posting a 72-9 win over the Chiefs.
