Thelma Adeline McConnell passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 in her daughters’ residence, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan K. Miller, Marsha J. (Larry) Warburton-Lawson, a son, Robert L. (Kay)  McConnell, two brothers, Robert (Thelma) McElheny and John (Harriet) McElheny and sister Jesse Ruble.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert and son Michael.

She has led a rich and full life as a wife, mom, and grandmother, and a challenging career as the first union organizer for the Graphic Arts International Union.  She started her career at Simplicity Pattern Co., being a union stewart, then the president of the local union with approximately 1,500 members then onto her career which took her extensively throughout the country promoting the right of workers to be represented in a fair and just manner.

Thelma retired after 15 years of service to her home in Niles for most of her life.  She will be sadly missed but never forgotten and always loved.

There will be a private family memorial service at Mission Hills with her final resting place also there.
