Jeannette “Jan” Hall, 79

Born: Feb. 24, 1933

Died: Nov. 24, 2012

Jan’s life began in Pawhuska, Okla., on Feb. 24, 1933, the daughter of Dovie May Smith.

She was employed by Rudy Manufacturing (Sundstrand) in Dowagiac for many years as a punch press operator.

Jan was a member of First Christian Church in Dowagiac. She belonged to the UAW, Dowagiac Moose Lodge, the Red Hat Ladies, art guild, the McDonald’s coffee brunch in Dowagiac and enjoyed activities with the Council on Aging.

Her loving family includes: her daughters, Clarise Murphy and Lisa (Jeff Nash) Weaver; son-in-law, Ted (Martha) Wallace, all of Dowagiac; and grandchildren, Angela L. Smith, Jerry (Rita) Cole, Tracy Cantrell, Tiffany Wallace, Jason Weaver and Diatra Baker.

Jan passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.

She is preceded in death by: her daughter, Vickie Wallace; grandson, Adrian Woodard; and longtime companion, Richard Staley.

Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday from  noon until 2 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday led by Chaplain Terry Perkins and family friend Pastor Mark Jones.

She will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Cass County Council on Aging or Borgess Hospice.
