Rodney Warren James, 51

Died: Nov. 8, 2012

VANDALIA — Rodney Warren James, 51, of Vandalia, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, in St. Joseph Medical Center in Elkhart, Ind. He was born April 7, 1961, in Gary, Ind., to Warren Lee James and Janet Carole (Newsome) James.

He was preceded in death by: his father; step-father, Abraham Walker; one sister, Michelle “Shelly” James;

one uncle Ronald V. James; and nephew, Alexander Abraham Walker.

Rodney loved Paradise Lake, his Caddy, playing dominos and playing cards. Right after high school Rodney turned into a Texan, living in Houston for almost 30 years.

Rodney always managed to fall in love with women whose names began with “S,” including Sheena, Sonya and Sheila, all of whom he married.

He broke the mold and changed to the letter “R,” so that by the time of his passing he was betrothed to Rebecca.

 

Rodney will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by: his mother, Janet C. Walker of Cassopolis; three brothers, Edwin G. (Sheena) Johnson III of Cassopolis, Randy (Beth) James of Cassopolis and Adam C. Walker of Elkhart, Ind.; Aunt Judy James of South Bend, Ind.; Uncle Dennis James of Elkhart; two

nephews, Edwin G. (Anna) Johnson IV of Mattawan and Brandon James of Cassopolis; four nieces, Maria (Robert) McClenney, Janet (Eric) Steward, both of Kalamazoo, Lavonia James of North Carolina and Michelle James of Cassopolis; and a host of other aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends gather from 11 until time of service at noon on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating.
