Published 3:24 pm Monday, November 5, 2012
A presentation on “Fracking: Truth & Consequences” will be presented at the LWVBCC meeting on Natural Gas Hydrofracturing in Michigan at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Berrien RESA, 711 St. Joseph St., Berrien Springs. This meeting is free, open to the public and does not require reservations.
The Lower Peninsula sits on a major natural gas formation called the Antrim Shale, rich source of natural gas. To date approximately 9,000 wells have been drilled in this area. A critical element in fracking is water and, unlike many parts of the country, Michigan has lots of water.
A panel of experts will guide us through the pros, cons, myths and truths about fracking.
