“Paranormal Activity 4”

2 stars out of 5

Genre: Horror, Suspense

Rated: R

Ever since the original “Paranormal Activity,” the overarching series storyline has primarily been exploring events that led to the first film, but No. 4 finally moves the larger plot forward.

Five years later after Katie ruthlessly kills many people, the demon-possessed woman has stopped running and settled in a small town in Nevada. The story once again centers on a clueless victim, Alex (Kathryn Newton) ,who attempts to figure out why these spooky incidents are happening in her house. She finds out her neighbors are demons with a troubled child. Alex is then faced with the “Paranormal Activities.”

In the first three films, there are different ways to record what is happening in the house, and, this time, they are up to date with phones and laptops and even the X Box Kinect.

Why do people go to horror movies? The answer is simple, to be scared. In the first “Paranormal,” the audience jumped many times, and, over time, the scares get more pathetic and underwhelming. But now, “Paranormal Activity” is starting to get interesting due to the story line of the demon, Katie and Hunter.

The main problem with the movie is how much it jumps around from scene to scene. If the producers really took their time and didn’t focus so much on terrible jumping scenes, they could come out with an outstanding story line.

The first hour and 10 minutes are boring and tiresome. The last 15 minutes, on the other hand, are stunning. Those few minutes wrap up the movie and show the real deal.

Hollywood has decided “Paranormal Activity 5” will be out next Halloween. There are only a few ways this will work. Get to the point and, hopefully, someone will finally try to stop the demon instead of playing with it and pretending it’s nothing.

The movie is the worst of the series by a long shot, and fans of the series will be disappointed. It’s boring, it’s not scary and, by the end of the movie, the audience is happy to go home. Let’s hope that No. 5 goes somewhere. Skip this movie, wait for Netflix or RedBox to rent this.
