Surgeon Marcus Free joins BLMG

Marcus Free, M.D., board-certified general surgeon, has joined Borgess Lee Medical Group.

“We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Free on board,” said John Ryder, interim administrator and chief operating officer, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. “He brings a level of expertise and experience to the Dowagiac area, giving residents greater access to high-quality general surgery services, without having to travel far from home.”

Free received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Texas, where he also completed his residency in general surgery.

Prior to Borgess Lee Medical Group, Free operated a general and advanced laparoscopic surgery practice in Sandusky, Mich.

He has experience performing a broad range of procedures, including laparoscopic bariatric surgery, advanced laparoscopy of the esophagus and colon, hernia repair, thoracic, vascular, abdominal and pediatric trauma surgery, endocrine surgery and endoscopy.

Free is an associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgery and Michigan State Medical Society.
