Porter crash kills two men

Double fatality in Porter

 

A traffic crash Tuesday night on Chapel Hill Street just east of Baldwin Prairie Road in Porter Township killed two young men.

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports deputies handled the crash at 9:14 p.m.

Ross Gambill, 19, of Osceola, Ind., said he and two friends were eastbound on Chapel Hill Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and struck a tree.

The driver was identified as Gabriel Spencer-Forsyth, 19, of Tennessee.

The second passenger was Kevin Shupert, 20, of Elkhart, Ind.

Spencer-Forsyth and Shupert died as a result of their injuries at the scene.

Gambill was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Gambill and Shupert were wearing seatbelts. The driver was not.

Porter Fire and Ambulance and Edwardsburg Ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.
