Southwestern Michigan College accepts gifts and grants

The Southwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees accepted contributions on behalf of the college at its February meeting held on the Dowagiac campus. The following gifts were received with a resolution of thanks from the Board of Trustees:

From Fifth Third Bank, St. Joseph: $7,500

From Ms. Patty Zech, Benton Harbor: $4,400

From Dr. J.N. and Mrs. Ila Patel, Decatur: Contribution of an Acro Sonic “Baldwin” Piano.

From Michael and Shirley Dreher, Cassopolis: $2,500

From St. Denys Foundation, Dowagiac: $1,000

From Betz Industries, Grand Rapids: $1,000

From Dr. and Mrs. Frederick Dean, Cassopolis: $500

From Burling & Gillesby, D.D.S., P.C., Dowagiac: $500

From Beaudoin Electrical Construction, Inc., Sodus: $200

From Mr. Thomas Vogler, Greenwood, Ind.: $200

From Ms. Carol Thomas, Escanaba, Mich.: $200

From Mr. Joseph Tinker, Buchanan: $150

From Monday Night Running Club, Dowagiac: $100

From Dr. Todd and Jodi Brown, Grand Rapids: $100

From Hale’s True Value Hardware, Inc., Dowagiac: $100

From Mr. Richard W. McDowell, Livonia, Mich.: $100

From Dr. Matthew V. Cripe, D.D.S., Dowagiac: $100

From Mr. Ronald J. Vogler, Vandalia: $100

From Michiana Recycling & Disposal, Niles: $100

From Wightman & Associates, Inc., Benton Harbor: $100

The board also accepted a state grants from the U.S. Department of Education, a Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Grant in the amount of $125,995 for the 2012-2013 award year.
