Vikings relinquish lead, rally to beat St. Joe

ST. JOSEPH – Visiting Niles rallied to edge St. Joseph 36-34 Thursday.

After leading 20-14 at halftime, the Vikings game up 20 unanswered points to the Bears in the third quarter and trailed 34-20 heading to the final period.

Niles scored a pair of touchdowns and both 2-point conversions to pull out the win.

An interception inside the final minute secured the victory for the Vikings.

Jason Taylor led Niles offensively with 303 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Anthony Haynes added 60 yards.

Defensively, Niles was led by Elijah Thompson, Logan Ortiz-Leonard and Josh Dayhuff.  All had interceptions.  Other defensive standouts were Athony Younger, Jason Hoida, Dustin Wickizer and Ted Jackowiak.

The Vikings conclude their season at home against Portage Central Thursday.
