James Teeter, 75

James R. Teeter, Jr., 75, of Vandalia, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart, Ind.

He was born Jan. 28, 1937, in South Bend to James R. Sr., and Evelyn I. (Zentz) Teeter.

He married Patricia Ann Bliss on Dec. 2, 1961, in South Bend. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Atkinson.

Jim worked as a plumber, pipefitter and welder. He stayed in touch with those he had worked with and enjoyed getting together with them to share stories and catch up on the latest gossip.

He had been a scuba diver. He enjoyed helping his sisters with their coin collecting. He was a friend of Bill and attended meetings throughout his illness.

Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia (Bliss) Teeter of Vandalia; one daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Thomas Canny of Portage; one son, James E. Teeter of Vandalia; two grandchildren, Evelyn Grace Canny and Keegan James Canny; two sisters, Janice Teeter and Sandra Dziubinski, both of Eagle River, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Teeter donated his remains to Michigan State University for research. The family will observe a private remembrance.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
