Phillip E. PeGan, 89, of Niles, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at his residence, with his family at his side.

He was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Denver, Ind., to the late Phillip G. and Dorothy (Fry) PeGan.

On Oct. 10, 1942, he married Josephine C. Lewis at a ceremony in Niles.

He was a lifelong resident of Niles, long-time member of the First Church of God in Niles and worked at Studebaker for 27 years and Clark Equipment for 18 years. Phillip enjoyed woodworking, working in the yard and spending time with his family. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
Phillip is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine PeGan, in 2009; a son, Robert Phillip PeGan in 2010; four brothers, Ray, Richard, Bobby and Carl PeGan; a sister, Donna Reed; a son-in-law, James Bakeman; two grandsons, Calvin Miller and Ronald PeGan II; a granddaughter, Becky Bakeman; and a great-granddaughter, Stephanie PeGan.

He is survived by two sons, Roger (Trish) PeGan of Niles and Ron (Leanne) PeGan of Goshen, Ind.; a daughter, Nancy Bakeman of Niles; 11 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Vern (Mary) PeGan of Cassopolis; and two sisters, Darlene (Buddy) Stanley of Niles and Juanita Abbott of Niles.

A time of visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Brown Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. with funeral service Monday Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. at First Church of God in Niles with Pastor Bob Jackson officiating.

Phillip will be laid to rest next to Josephine at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Osceola in the Garden of the Last Supper.
