Eloise F. Powell, 89, of Vandalia, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis.

She was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Chicago, to Stuart and Annie (Morrell) Fowler. She married Monnie Powell on Aug. 8, 1969, in Henderson, Ky. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents; one daughter, Vivian

Lofton; four sisters, Juanita “Babe” Stacker, Vivian “V” Ford, Leila Henderson, Lillian ”Lil” Palmer; and one brother Arthur “Artie” Fowler.

Eloise enjoyed shopping, playing bingo and going to the casino. She enjoyed her family being around her as much as possible.

Eloise will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two granddaughters, Michelle Lofton and Lisa Lofton, both of Vandalia; one great-granddaughter, Taletha Andrews, of Grand Rapids; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, including Dolores Yancey, of Austin, Texas.

Mrs. Powell was laid to rest by her family in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Cassopolis.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
