Alberta F. Mead, 89, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lawton.

Alberta was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Toquin, the daughter of Claude and Mae (Knoll) Stanley. She was a homemaker and formerly employed by Knouse Foods in Paw Paw. She married Victor Mead on July 11, 1945, in Paw Paw. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2003.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Clinton Mead; two brothers, Bruce Stanley and Silas Stanley; and a sister, Mary Mead.

Alberta is survived by a daughter, Sharon Ann Masura of Marcellus; three sons, Robert E. Mead of Decatur, Gary (Candace) Mead of Marcellus, Brian (Valerie) Mead of Decatur; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirleemae Bradeen of Camp Hill, Pa.

Funeral services will be held Sunday Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. in the Newell Funeral Home, Decatur, with the Rev. Michael Heflin and James Abshagen officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, in the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
