Chieftains host Paw Paw in soccer Monday

The Dowagiac soccer team will entertain Paw Paw in the opening round of the Wolverine Conference Soccer Tournament Monday.
The Chieftains, who finished third in the West Division, lost the tiebreaker to the Berrien Springs for the second seed based on the Shamrocks’ 3-2 win over Dowagiac during the regular season.
Edwardsburg and Coloma finished with identical 2-3 records, but the Eddies received the fourth seed based on a 4-0 win over the Comets in the regular season.
South Haven was the West Division regular season champion with a perfect 5-0 record.
In the East Division, Plainwell went 5-0 to gain the top seed. Otsego was second after winning a tiebreaker with Allegan and Paw Paw third after winning a tiebreaker with Vicksburg.
The second round of the Wolverine Conference Tournament will be Oct. 10.
