The Dowagiac freshmen football team rebounded from last week’s loss to Battle Creek Pennfield with a 22-8 victory over the South Haven JV Thursday.
“Tonight was a great team effort,” Dowagiac coach Chad Perrin said. “We preached ball control and unity all week and the team delivered.”
Scott Hassle threw a 60-yard touchown pass to Brandon Winchester-Jones and 2-point conversion passes to Jared Hatch and Bryce Fry.
Winchester-Jones also had a rushing touchdown, as did Lazzaro Piedra.
Defensively for the Chieftains, Hatch, Josh Lamphere, Cole Caniff and Austin Taggert played well according to Perrin. Winchester-Jones had three interceptions.
Dowagiac plays its final home game Thursday against Three Rivers.
