With the post season rapidly approaching, the Niles tennis team picked up a big non-divisional Big 16 Conference win over visiting Battle Creek Harper Creek in a Big 16 crossover match Wednesday.

The Vikings swept the doubles flights on its way to a 5-3 victory.

“They are in our conference and they are in our regional, so this is a good win for us,” Niles coach Jill Weber said. “The boys played well.”

With four wins under its belt, Niles needed to pick up a victory in singles action.

Nick Zeigert delivered with a 6-3 and 6-2 win over Tyler Antes.

The most dominating performance on the doubles side was Isaac Rosenthal and Nick Borkowski’s 6-0 and 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles over Alex Eifler and Brad Carr.

“They played great,” Weber said of Rosenthal and Borkowski. “They are now really to jell as a team and they are starting to attack the net, which is what I wanted them to do. It was really clicking today.

“My four doubles too. They went three set today, but they are starting to put the ball away and everything is coming together for them too.”

Niles has added a match to their schedule this week as the Vikings will travel to Vicksburg Friday for a non-league contest.
