Royce Marie Deuel, 63, of Edwardsburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, in Borgess Memorial Hospital, Kalamazoo.

She was born July 11, 1949, in Benton Harbor to Paul and Elizabeth (Carmichael) Hankins. She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Willard Dean Hankins and Mark Anthony Hankins; three grandsons, Marcus Anthony St. Cin, Ronald O’Neal Lee II, Willie Thomas Lee; and stepfather, Joseph Slabaugh Jr.

Royce Marie liked her crafts and her yard sales. She enjoyed life and her family.

Royce Marie will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Deuel, Jr., of Edwardsburg; one daughter, Elizabeth (Devlin Patterson) St. Cin of Dowagiac; one son, Robert (Emylie) Deuel of Higginsville, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Tina (Ronald Lee) Erickson of Cassopolis; three stepsons, Steven (Brandy) Erickson of Dowagiac, David (Stephanie) Deuel of Edwardsburg, Lee (Sandy) Deuel of Dowagiac;13 grandchildren, Jacob (Andrea) Breseman of Lawton, Cody (Lauren) Breseman of Marcellus, Torez Baham of Washington, Ind., Justin Mongo of Dowagiac, A’lisha Patterson of Dowagiac, Alvin Hennington of Galien, Dorian Erickson of Galien, Dustin Deuel of Dowagiac, Peyton Sirk of Dowagiac, Jersey Sirk of Dowagiac, Trevor Deuel of Edwardsburg, Dokota Deuel of Kalamazoo, Rebecca Deuel of Edwardsburg; her mother, Elizabeth Slabaugh of Dowagiac; one sister, Carol (Johnny) Tackitt of Hartford; two brothers, James Hankins of Hartford and Joseph (Tammy) Slabaugh III of Dowagiac; and a host of nieces of nephews.

Family and friends gathered from 2 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16, at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis, with the Pastor Jeff Oliver officiating.

Mrs. Deuel was laid to rest in Smith Chapel Cemetery, Niles.

The family prefers memorial contributions to Wagner Family Funerals to help defray final expenses.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
