The Dowagiac freshmen football team fell to Battle Creek Pennfield 20-14 Thursday.

Scott Hassle led the Chieftains with two touchdowns passes as he connected with Jared Hatch and Brandon Winchester Jones.

Hatch also added a 2-point conversion.

“Turnovers cost the Chieftains offensively,” Dowagiac coach Chad Perrin said. “Overall, we are coming together as a team, but we are still making too many mistakes.”

Dowagiac will travel to South Haven Thursday night.
