Niles girls sixth at West jamboree

MATTAWAN – The Niles girls cross country team finished sixth at the Big 16 Conference West Division Jamboree hosted by Mattawan Wednesday.

St. Joseph won both the boys and girls team titles.

Portage Northern was second in the girls race and Portage Central third.

Alaina Smith of Mattawan was the individual winner with a time of 20:16.

Bridgett Carpenter led Niles with a 27th place finish and a time of 22:55.

In the boys race, Portage Central and Portage Northern reversed places to finish second and third respectively. The Vikings were seventh.

David Berry of St. Joseph was the individual winner with a time of 16:35.

Gaberial Trujillo placed 30th for Niles with a time of 19:01.
