Julianna Elizabeth Brown, 9, of Niles, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

She was born May 25, 2003, in Kalamazoo to Alan Brown and Jennifer Baird.

Julianna was a third-grader at Howard Ellis Elementary School in Niles. She was an active member of the Flaming Youth 4H Club in Cassopolis. She recently participated in the Cass County Fair, where she was the 2012 Reserve Champion Hampshire Wether Market Lamb. She loved taking care of the chickens in the coop, especially White Cloud Jr. Jr.

Although her life was brief, her impact was as big as her smile.

She is preceded in death by a grandmother, Pamela Ferris, and her sister, Sophia True.

Julianna is survived by her parents, Alan Brown of North Carolina and Jennifer Baird of Niles; her stepdad, Kirk True of Niles; a sister, Penelope True of Niles; paternal grandfather, Jim True of Dowagiac; maternal grandmother, Lucinda Franklin of Decatur; paternal great-grandparents, Nina True of Niles and Don Blohm of California; maternal great-grandparents, Charles and Sylvia Nolke of Dowagiac; aunts, Ann Marie (Brian) Baird of Battle Creek, Patricia Nolke of Dowagiac; great-uncles, Ike (Barbara) Franklin of Dowagiac, Mike (Melissa) Franklin of Dowagiac; great-aunts, Melissa (Steve) Tortorelli of Marcellus and Kimberly (Peter) Janssen of Dowagiac; a very special great-aunt and great-uncle, Toni and Jeff Crowel, and daughter Victoria Toney of Niles; and cousins, Shelby, Daniel and Austin New of Battle Creek; along with countless other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held, along with her sister, Sophia, at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main St. in Niles on Friday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. with Pastor Thaddeus Stout officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 4 p.m. until the time of the service. A private interment will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
