Jim L. Fryman, 73, of Dowagiac, passed Sept. 12, 2012, at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Buchanan to Walter and Melba (Day) Fryman on March 14, 1939.

On April 3, 1987, at a ceremony in Las Vegas, Jim married Julie Fisher.

Jim was always a driven man; he was a hard-working, business owner his whole life. Founding several businesses; his most recent and successful was Fryman’s Recycling.

When Jim wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, family and friends. He was known by all as a kind-hearted man who always had open hands and a heart that knew no boundaries.

Preceding Jim are his parents and his sister, Maryann Drish.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; his two sons, Donald (Lyndel) Fryman and David (Terri) Fryman; and a daughter, Doreen Fryman. He is also survived by his twin brother, Jack (Barb Haley) Fryman; and a sister, Betty Stover; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and his trusted companion, Baxter.

Visitation for Jim will be Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9:30 a.m. until noon, with the service beginning at noon at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel.
