Clinton Orr named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

ROYAL OAK   – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Albion running back Clinton Orr, Kalamazoo linebacker Dylan Zerki and Albion punter Sage Alward its Players of the Week in football for games played through Sept. 8.

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Orr, a senior from Buchanan, rushed for 133 yards on 29 carries and scored two touchdowns Saturday in leading the Britons to a thrilling 22-21 come-from-behind win over nationally-ranked Wheaton, Ill. Orr scored on runs of one and six yards and had a long run of 39 yards. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the ninth time in his career.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Zerki, a freshman from Waterford (Orchard Lake St. Mary’s HS), had nine tackles, including two for losses, forced a fumble and had a sack as the Hornets edged Manchester, Ind., 18-16, in four overtimes. Eight of Zerki’s tackles were solo stops. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

 

Special Teams Player of the Week

Alward, a junior from Hudsonville, punted five times for an average of 39.6 yards in the Britons’ win over Wheaton. His kicks included a 62-yard boot. Alward is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
