Morgan throws for two, runs for touchdown in loss

DECATUR – Vashaun Morgan threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in Cassopolis’ 46-30 loss to Decatur Thursday.

The Rangers (0-2) were outscored 22-14 by the Raiders (2-0) in the fourth quarter. Decatur led 24-16 heading into the final 12 minutes of the contest.

Morgan ran for a 7-yard score and hit Tyler Presly with a 98-yard bomb before hooking up with Jaylin Lawson for a 23-yard touchdown. Lawson also scored on a 5-yard run.

The Raiders’ TJ Cerven also threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. He connected with Matthew Botti for scoring strikes of 28- and 23-yards. Cerven’s touchdown run was a quarterback sneak from the 1-yard line.

Decatur held a 471 to 281 advantage in total offense, including 324 to 167 through the air. The Raiders rushed for 147 yards and the Rangers for 114.
