BUCHANAN – Former Lakeland Conference foes Edwardsburg and Buchanan squared off in non-league soccer Wednesday.

The Eddies defeated the Bucks 3-1 in a match that had all four goals scored in the opening 40 minutes of play.

The second half was a defensive battle with neither team able to find the back of the net.

Nick Karamalegos scored a pair of goals for Edwardsburg, which improved to 4-2 on the season.

Alan Lopez staked the Eddies to a 1-0 lead in the second minute with an unassisted goal.

Buchanan (3-4-1) tied the score at 1-1 on a goal by Kevin Dey in the 14th minute off an assist from Alex Martinez.

Karamalegos then scored back-to-back goals in the 27th and 35th minutes to give the Eddies the victory. Andrew Gnott got the assist on the second goal.

Edwardsburg outshot Buchanan 23-12.
