PAW PAW — The Dowagiac golf team bounced back from a pair of ninth place finishes Wednesday to place seventh at the Paw Paw Jamboree held at Heritage Glen Thursday.

Dowagiac finished with a 219, led by Haley Smith’s 48. It was the first time this season that the Chieftains had a golfer place in the top 10.

Dowagiac also got a 56 from Maggie Cripe, a 54 from Kristyn Turner and a 61 from Kelsey Smith.

Plainwell won the jamboree to move within a point (48-47) of league-leading Otsego, which finished second. Three Rivers was third, Comstock fourth and Allegan fifth.

Otsego continues to lead the overall standings with Plainwell second, Three Rivers third and Allegan fourth.

Holly Hines of Three Rivers unseated Darby Wagner of Plainwell as medalist Thursday with a round of 44.
