Lola Dodson, 71

Lola L. Dodson, 71, of Dowagiac, passed away Wednesday Aug. 29, 2012, at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital.

Lola’s life began May 14, 1941, in Chicago, the daughter of Edgar L. and Delma (Cousineau) Hauser. She was united in marriage to Rosier B. Dodson on Sept. 17, 1960, in Chicago. Lola was a faithful parishioner of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac, where she sang in the choir. She was also very active with the Dowagiac Citizen’s Police Academy.

Her loving family includes her children, Alma (Steven) Carlsen of Dowagiac, Flora (Laura) Dodson of Cassopolis, Paul J. Dodson of Dowagiac, Ed (Katie) Dodson of South Bend, Dayle (Jenny) Dodson of Dowagiac and Richard F. Dodson of Dowagiac,; grandchildren, Synnon (Michael ) Dunleavy, Steve (Jessica) Carlsen II, Brendan (Tara) Carlsen, Christopher (Jessica) Carlsen, Mathew Dodson, Tyler Dodson, Hannah Dodson, Harris Dodson and Olyvia Dodson; great-grandchildren, Callie and Pace Carlsen; brothers, Larry Hauser, Warren Hauser and Tom Brais; and sister, Delma Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rosier in 1983; a son, Rosier Dodson Jr,; and a stepdaughter, Louise Jones; sister, Darlene Hauser; and brothers, Edgar Hauser Jr. and Jerry Hauser.

Her family will father with friends Friday, Aug. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel.  a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church by Father Kevin Covert.  She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Dowagiac Police Department for community policing activities.
