Millers help Niles rebound

Led by the brother tandem of Brad and Matt Miller, the Niles tennis team rebounded nicely from its first loss of the season.
The Vikings blanked both Bridgman and Dowagiac Thursday to improve to 5-1.
Brad Miller had to go three sets in both of his matches to finish the day at 2-0, while brother Matt teamed with Alec Brown to post a pair of easy straight-set victories.

Brad defeated Bridgman’s Zach Bauer 2-6, 6-3 and 6-3 before defeating Dowagiac’s Marc Tyrakowski 2-6, 6-2 and 6-3.
“I don’t mind it at all,” Matt Miller said of playing on the same team as his brother. “It’s better because we can go out and play whenever we want to. It would be fun to play doubles with him because we play together in the summer sometimes and we do alright.”
Brad agreed that it’s nice to have his brother on the team to go out and work on their game together.
“I think my brother already said it, but it’s good to be able to go out and play. You don’t have to wait until practice,” Brad said. “We wanted to play doubles this year, but it was her (coach Jill Weber) decision for me to play singles. Maybe next year we can play doubles.”
