Carol F. Morris, 79, of Union and Baldwin Lake, passed to her rest Aug. 17, 2012, at Golden Living Center, Elkhart, after an illness.

She was born March 26, 1933, in New York, N.Y., the daughter of Victor and Marian (Hertzel) Deravin. She lived in Michiana for more than 25 years.

Carol was a hard worker; she went to college to study to be a dental hygienist and practiced that profession several years. She and her late husband, Leon, were owners of Morris Waterspot in Union for several years.

Carol married Dec. 10, 1977, in Edwardsburg to Leon Morris, and he passed in 2006. Surviving is a stepson, Shawn Daniel (Shelly) Morris, of Bryan, Ohio, four step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. Importantly, she is survived by her adopted family, Jerry and Jody Smith, of Bristol. Also, there is a brother-in-law, Dennis Morris, of Michigan.

Others who have passed are a sister, Peggy Ford, two nephews and a niece, as well as her parents.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main (U.S. Highway 12), Edwardsburg, with Father Joe McCormick, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Church, officiating. Friends and family may gather from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She was a member of Mason-Union Garden Club and the Ladies Red Hat Society. It has been said, “Carol was a vivacious, loving and friendly lady, always ready to spend time with family and friends … to share a good time, especially with her Baldwin Lake friends.”
