The Dowagiac JV football team defeated visiting Vicksburg 47-14 in its season opener Wednesday.

Bryce Dodd threw three touchdown passes, including a pair of Brandon Hatch and one to Chase Camp. Camp also had a rushing touchdown.

Also scoring for the Chieftains were Rolando Lucio and Devin Chapman.

“Kyle Johnson was able to hold them to 14 points as he called the defense for the first time in his career,” Dowagiac coach Matt Alward said.
