The Brandywine tennis team defeated visiting Galesburg-Augusta 5-3 at Plym Park Wednesday.

The Bobcats (2-4) won three out of four singles flights and split the doubles flights to pick up the victory.

“The deciding flight was two doubles,” Brandywine coach David Sidenbender said. “It was a three-set match that Alex Brooks and Lucas Hoffman battled through. They really showed a lot of guts because it was a long, two-plus hour match. I am so proud of the way they played.

“When I talked to them on the last changeover, I told them you win, we win, it’s that simple. And they came through.”

Brooks and Hoffman defeated Zach Reisterer and Tyler Walker 6-4, 4-6 and 7-5.

“I really thought our singles all played well, even in the four singles three-set loss,” Sidenbender said. “I see improvement in our lower doubles, but we just have to keep getting comfortable on the court.”
