Local artist to appear on Travel Channel

The work of local businessman and artist Dean Loucks will be featured in a segment on the Travel Channel scheduled to air in October.

Loucks runs Dean’s Place Art Gallery in Granger, Ind., and also runs a successful custom automobile paint shop, The Art of Design (TAOD), in Elkhart, Ind.

The Travel Channel segment will feature Loucks’ custom paint jobs on high-end motorcoaches.

Loucks wrapped up filming a few weeks ago.

“It will be a little insert with 12 different motorhomes in an hour — it’s not a feature show on me, it is a feature show on mega motorhomes and the best that they are featuring are the ones that I’ve painted,” Loucks said.

Loucks is no stranger to the limelight.

He is has done high-end paint jobs on everything from powerboats, to helicopters, to a million-dollar Puma sailboat featured in the Volvo Ocean Race. Powerboat Magazine named him the No. 1 powerboat artist two years in a row.

Recently, Loucks been creating fine art using a signature method he calls “the art of removal.”

He paints everything from landscapes, to portraits, to animals, to cars and more.
