Wheeler

Died: Aug. 2, 2012

On Aug. 2, 2012, the Wheeler family lost its beloved patriarch to a long time illness. The family grieves, but takes solace in the knowledge that while he lived, Bill David Wheeler, Jr., 59, touched many lives.

He left the people he met better off and feeling one friend richer. Like his father, Bill Sr., no person in need was ever turned away from his door or his table. He was genuinely kind-hearted and generous. He was a brave soldier who volunteered to serve during a time of war and remained dedicated to his comrades as a member of the American Legion. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Wheeler is survived by his mother, Annie Wheeler, Niles; his wife , Shirley Wheeler, of Elkhart; three children, Brandi Watkins, of Goshen; Nick (Laura) Wheeler, of Indianapolis; and Bill Wheeler III, of Elkhart; a step-son, Chris (Melanie) Troup, of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Nick, Olivia, Ryan, Summer, Autumn, Abbie, Angie and Chase; two sisters, Gail (John) Burnett, of Niles, and Linda (George) Revoir, of La Plata, Md.; a niece and nephew, Kimberly Hogle, of Elkhart, and Donald Hogle, of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bill Wheeler, and his step-son, Jay Troup.

Per his wishes, there will be not visitation or services. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
