“The Watch”

2 out of 5 stars

Rated- R

Genre: Comedy Sci-Fi

Starring Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, you know “The Watch” is too good to be true. And that’s exactly what it is. There is nothing in the movie that pops out or makes it special.

Evan (Stiller) works at a Costco in a small town in Ohio, and one night something terrible happens to one of the security guards in the store. After that, he feels the need to form a neighborhood watch. This is where three guys come together and actually figure this is an alien invasion.

There are too many things going on at once in the movie, which is a big problem. Instead of focusing on one main storyline, action diverges along four situations.

Not only was the story just terrible, the characters didn’t even act sane. They just acted dumb in every instance. But none of them, except Evan, joined “The Watch” to look over the community. They joined for different reasons.

The movie does get credit for cracking some decent jokes, but from the acting to the story, the movie is just boring. The entire thing is very forgettable. I wouldn’t call the movie terrible, but odd and random, in a bad way.

This week, don’t waste your time screening “The Watch,” go watch something else — anything else.
