United Way sets goal

United Way of Southwest Michigan has set its 2012 Community Fundraising Goal at $3.1 million.
“The Campaign Cabinet knows we have set an aggressive goal this year but we believe this community is a generous one,” said 2012 campaign chairman and Michigan Works executive director Todd Gustafson. “We also have a great group of Pacesetter companies who are ready to lead the way.”

Applications sought for development board

Interviews will be conducted at 6 p.m. Aug. 2. Applicants are asked to please have the application submitted prior to July 24.
Applications are available on the county website and can be mailed to Jackie Taylor at the County Administrator’s Office, 120 N. Broadway, Cassopolis, MI 49031, or faxed to (269) 445-8978.

Drivers needed

The Cass County Council on Aging is in need of volunteer drivers for its Meals on Wheels and Medical Transportation programs. Their Meals on Wheels drivers deliver approximately 20,000 meals annually and their medical transport drivers make over 6,000 trips annually.
Its drivers are sometimes are only people their clients see in a day. Their drivers have saved lives by being there to call 911. Hours are flexible.
