Donald R. “Butch” DeMunck, 65, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his home.
He was born Oct. 19, 1946, in Little Rock, Ark., the son of Julius and Barbara (Disbrow) DeMunck.
“Butch” served his country in the Vietnam War in the Army as a tech sergeant. He was a former employee of Voyager in Elkhart. He was a member of St. Peter’s Masonic Lodge 106 in Edwardsburg, being a past master. Also, he was a member of Cass County Shrine Club of Union. He was a member of the Edwardsburg American Legion Post 365.
“Butch” was married Feb. 5, 1988 in Elkhart to Pattie Jo Matchette, who survives with their children, Domino (Jolene) DeMunck, of Wewahitchka, Fla., Danny (Carrie) Graham, of Edwardsburg, Cindy McKee, of Elkhart, and Debbie (Guadalupe) Rivera, of Plymouth, Ind. Also surviving is his mother, Barbara Heavner, of Monticello, Ark.; 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He has a sister, Sherry (Jim) Lee, of Monticello, Ark., and a brother, Ronnie (Kathy) Heavner, of Mishawaka, Ind.
Family and friends gathered Sunday, July 22, at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St., Edwardsburg. Services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, where calling was held from 1 to 3 p.m. The U.S. Honor Guard from the Army played taps and folded the flag. St. Peter’s Masonic Lodge of Edwardsburg conducted a Masonic memorial service.
Butch and Pattie moved to Edwardsburg 26 years ago from South Bend. He was happy fishing and hunting. He loved to attend auctions anywhere he could get to.
