Several injured in Friday crashPublished 4:28pm Sunday, July 15, 2012
Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr., reports that at approximately 5:15 p.m. July 13, his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred on Dailey Road and Pokagon Hwy in La Grange Township.
Fifty-seven-year-old New York resident William Reed, and his son William Reed, 20, also of New York, were northbound on Dailey Road when Reed proceeded into the intersection with oncoming traffic.
An eastbound vehicle, driven by Jason Weber, 35, of Dowagiac, collided with Reed’s vehicle.
Weber and his children were transported by personal vehicles to the hospital, where they were treated and released.
Twenty-five-year-old Dowagiac resident Erika Weber was transported by ambulance to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac, where she was then transferred to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo for further treatment.
She is in stable condition.
Reed’s son was transported to Borgess-Lee in Dowagiac and also later released.
Reed was flown from the scene of the crash to South Bend Memorial Hospital and is in critical condition. Seat belts were used and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
Assisting were members of Cassopolis Fire Department, Dowagiac Fire Department, Penn Township Fire Department, Pokagon Fire Department, Life Care Ambulance, Pride Care Ambulance, Edwardsburg Ambulance and Med Flight Air Ambulance Service.
The case remains under investigation.
